made my day

i saw this on pinterest and loved it (here is my board where it is pinned)

definitely laughed out loud at this one...also does Siri work this well for anyone in real life? (here)

obviously i relate to this (here)

while this is slightly more serious than the first three, i'm sort of in love with this saying...and i want to put this in my (future) daughter's room...just so she doesn't forget it! (here)

surviving church as a single

the website stuff christian's like is pretty funny. a few weeks ago there was an article about single adults and church (article can be found here) i related to a few points but really the article caused me to come to a major realization (or to rehash the same realization i talked about here). basically being single in church can be tough. i assumed it would be easier if there was a single's group that i could be a part of. i'm not gonna lie, in my head this group is pretty cool and we do lots of fun things. plus everyone's single so no one feels like the awkward third wheel (but more on that feeling later). but what if, one day there is a single's group and it's totally lame...or what if there is no one in that group that i can relate too? or what if it's one of the dreaded combo groups...i mean i'm only 23 and i don't relate well to college students at all..i can't imagine how true this will be in a few years.
and evidently, well according to the article at least, there are some big stereotypes that would be associated with such a group. and seriously if someone said something to me like "i don't know how someone as great as you isn't married" and it had been a bad sunday, there is a definite chance that i'd burst into tears at that exact moment...which would be awesome. oh and "if you stop looking for love you'll find it" okay barf...seriously people...i immediately thought of all the times people have told me they met their spouse at a youth or college retreat so that could totally happen to me too. yup i've been to Winterfest too many times to count (over 10 years) and still no ring or boy...so just because you went ONE year and happened to meet the "one" please don't act like the same thing will happen to me. plus whatever happened to encouraging a girl to happy with herself as she is. let's not put all these expectations on youth retreats and i bet everyone will leave them so much more fulfilled with God rather than negative thoughts about how it was a failure because you didn't get the guys number. (okay off that soapbox)
and if anyone ever told me how i needed to be more like the proverbs 31 woman i would cry...or punch them...but probably cry. i just wonder if people seriously think that's okay to tell someone. and let's just be clear here...i'm going to make an awesome wife and mother one day and yes all women could try and be more like the proverbs 31 woman but don't act like that's the reason i'm still single okay? (okay really moving on)
but seriously the main thing i gathered from this article (other than thankfulness that i haven't experienced a lot of these things yet and fear for what might come) is that maybe being a part of a singles ministry isn't all i've imagined in my head. but i'd like the opportunity to try it out. i'm written before about how much i loved my church experience in high school but i haven't really talked about my church-going experience while in college. that's definitely too much to write about here (be looking for a blog post all about that) but looking back on it now, it was a let-down. i don't know if i just had unrealistic expectations or what...but i think that has been one of my biggest regrets so far. and now that i'm past that phase, i think i would really like to try out a single's ministry. but how? i mean if the church your attending doesn't have one and you really like your current church, do you seek out other churches in the area looking specifically for such a ministry? [i feel like this could just be a slippery slope to selecting a church based purely on whether or not a potential husband is also attending...] or do you stick with where you are happy? or maybe you just look for jobs in completely different states knowing that maybe a clean start would be cool too.
surviving church as a single can really be tough and evidently it's that way whether or not your part of a  singles ministry. but there has to be some redeeming qualities to a singles ministry right? again, i know i'm thinking of how church was when i was in high school but it was great to have friends who you could always do stuff with. whether it was getting dinner on a thursday night or lunch on saturday or just wondering around target aimlessly, it was so nice to have that companionship. and when your the only single person, you don't have anyone to do that with. so you end up eating dinner out alone or your the third/fifth/ninth wheel. either way totally awesome (again i think i have a whole blog post coming on this subject alone..i know your so excited)
so maybe this post was just another ramble that makes absolutely no sense...but maybe you get it too. and hey if your in the greenville area of sc maybe we should just start our own singles group. i promise i'm not as sad/dramatic/crazy as my posts may lead you to believe!

high five for friday!

i found lauren's link-up high five for friday through melissa's blog last week. so here are my five favorite things from this past week!

(1) i am obsessed with the iphone app viggle. basically you just check into tv shows and earn points for watching tv. you can earn extra points for watching certain prime-time shows and then redeem your points for gift cards. i mean getting free stuff for watching tv...maybe i can totally have that as my career...if there is ever a way to earn free stuff by pinning items then i'm totally set!

(2) new nail polish from ulta...serious love affair! the color (which is fine pruned if your interested) is just perfect for me and i love that it has a matte finish. if you like dark/funky nail polish i definitely recommend this color...while it isn't super dark i think it's super appropriate for this time of the year (however i'll still be wearing it come june...)

(3) cherry coke! i have always LOVED cherry coke but it can be kind of hard to find...and you can't get it at most restaurants. since i'm in pretty deep with studying for REG (my last section to the CPA exam) i figured i needed some comfort foods...and cherry coke definitely qualifies. i remember getting one (or 4) a day while spending hours studying in sirrine...so so so happy that cherry coke is back in my life!

(4) while wondering around target this past weekend i implusively bought a blue scar/wrap/pashmina thing. i am so not the girl who normally wears this type of thing...however i really like it. i ordered another one from kohls this past week and i'm super excited for it to get here (online shopping another weakness...especially when i can get free shipping....anyways) i'm excited to work these pieces into more of my outfits

(5) i finished all the becker cpa review videos for the regulation section and all the homework too! now just to work some more multiple choice problems and take a practice test (maybe?)...oh and definitely work on those simulations. i'm taking the exam on wednesday and it will be the third time i've taken this section (but third time is totally the charm)...plus i already feel way more prepared than i did last time and i still have a few more days of awesome studying left! i really will be so happy to be finished with this exam (whenever that happens). plus someone is totally going to want to hire a person who has already passed all 4 parts and knows that even while it's not the coolest career ever, it's kind of the perfect job for me.

i wish i had a reason to...

make this quilt
i had a lot of fun sewing twins' quilts and this one is so simple that it wouldn't take that long...plus there's something about a finished quilt that is quite satisfying!

buy this dress
if you were to sum up staci in a dress i'm pretty sure it would be this one...and how adorable would it be with leggings and boots

bake these
but then i'd end up eating them all and that's probably not a great idea

go get one of these
cherry limeades are so yummy...and make me think of summer...but again i don't really need it!

Singles Day!

so today i'm linking up with Kelly's Korner for her singles day. i've read blogs that have linked up for her single days previously but never taken the plunge and actually participated myself. but i figured that a) what could it hurt and b) if people are not only meeting but getting married thanks to this link up then seriously...why not do it

so a little about me...my name is Staci and i'm 23, living in the Greenville area of South Carolina. i went to college at Clemson and absolutely loved it! i seriously loved Clemson so much that after i finished my undergraduate degree i decided to stick around for another year and get my Masters in Accounting.
i'm currently a nanny/babysitter/awesome auntie to 9 (almost 10 wow!) month old twins but i'm looking for a job in public accounting. yup, that's right i'm an accountant and well on my way to becoming a CPA. but i'm pretty much anything but a typical accountant.
{my brother and i after my graduation in august}
I have one younger brother, Jonathan, who is engaged and will be graduating from Clemson in May of this year. He is majoring in Civil Engineering. We've always been pretty close and going to college together for 3 years helped us maintain that. My dad just retired last month, so he and my mom are enjoying the semi-retired life.
{Christmas Eve 2011 at my grandparents house: Jonathan, my mom, me and my dad}
i enjoy sewing and being crafty in general. i have a slight addiction to pinterest, where my love of obsessive organization can be found. i probably watch too much tv & i love a good football game, which isn't complete without an awesome tailgate and yummy food. i, obviously, love college football season but i'm pretty excited for baseball to be starting soon. i'm kinda of obsessed with chick-fil-a sauce, cherry limeades and strawberry frosted donuts.
{roommates junior and senior year at Clemson...Amy, Heather and I}
{me and emily}
if you have any questions, just let me know. i can't wait to see what happens with all of us who are linking up with kelly this time!

Sister of the Groom

i recently re-did my pinterest boards...okay if we are being honest here i redo/reorganize my boards quite frequently...i'm sure that's a trait that a future employer is definitely looking for. anyways, one of my newer boards is entitled sister of the groom (bridal shower style). basically it's where i pin ideas that i think would make for a cute bridal shower for my brother's fiance....oh yeah that's right blog-world my LITTLE brother is engaged...and oh yup i'm still single with no boy prospects on the horizon. but, enough about that. i do love to throw a good party so i figured i might as well start planning the shower. they haven't set a date yet so obviously there is no date/time frame for this shower. but it's never to early to start planning...and every event in my life needs a pinterest board :)
(starting in top left corner...obviously)
1. cupcakes in a tea cup adorable right? what a cute way to serve cupcakes...and the tea cups make it seem so grown-up
2. yarn chandelier so maybe it's just the bright colors, but i think these would be a fun and unique way to decorate any party with
3. pink lemonade in a mason jar doesn't get more southern than this...plus how cute is the fabric tied on the jar
4. recipe for love have each guest write down a recipe for love aka advice for the new couple...or you could always just have people share their favorite recipes [great i'm already resistant to advice...clearly i should work on this accepting advice concept]
5. chicken caesar salad sandwiches made in the crock-pot...no more words are needed
6. pink & yellow table setting love the colors...and the monogram on the back of each chair
7. blt bites and my jaw just hit the floor
8. strawberry bridal shower again...does a table setting get any cuter? plus i love the little baskets at each place setting
9. bunting invite i love how simple but cute these invitations are
